David Lloyd Emersons Green, Bristol (2026): Membership, Spa, Pools, Tennis Dome and Padel
David Lloyd Emersons Green is the newest of the group’s three Bristol clubs, an £11 million purpose-built site off the A4174 that opened in November 2019 as David Lloyd’s 100th UK club. It has a 20m indoor pool and a 25m heated outdoor pool, an indoor spa with an outdoor spa garden, three indoor tennis courts under the dome, padel, Blaze, a sports hall, a crèche, soft play and free parking. This guide covers how membership pricing works, every facility, opening times, day passes, and the thing active members often forget to sort: fast treatment if they get injured.

How New Is It? The £11 Million 100th Club
If you searched for the “new David Lloyd in Emersons Green” or when it opened, the answer is November 2019. The club was David Lloyd Leisure’s 100th UK club and its third in the Bristol area, built by Pellikaan over about 43 weeks on a 2.3-hectare site next to the Lyde Green Park and Ride, with an investment the company put at £11 million and more than 80 local jobs. It was designed as a family club from the start, with two children’s playrooms, soft play, a family zone in the Clubroom and a separate adults-only lounge, and the general manager at opening described the aim as a place where people could spend a day with their kids, meet friends for a drink and work. It is a purpose-built club rather than a refurbished one, which shows in the layout: the gym takes the whole first floor and the pools, spa and dome sit around it.
The Spa, Spa Garden and Pools
The spa is split between an indoor area with saunas, steam rooms, a hydropool and heated relaxation beds and an outdoor spa garden next to the pools. Swimming is year-round: a 20m heated indoor pool for lanes and lessons, a 25m heated outdoor pool, an indoor learner pool for children’s lessons and an outdoor kids’ pool for summer. Spa access is part of the Platinum membership rather than the entry tiers, and spa treatments are booked separately; David Lloyd does not publish a treatment menu for the club online, so ask for the current spa menu on a tour.
The Tennis Dome, Padel and Sports Hall
The white dome you can see from the ring road is the club’s indoor tennis hall: an air-supported structure over three indoor courts, so play continues through the winter. Outside there is one show court, and two padel courts, one of them under cover, were added as padel took off across David Lloyd’s clubs. The sports hall is used for badminton and pickleball. Coaching is by LTA-qualified coaches: free four-week beginner and refresher courses for new players, junior lessons from age three to eighteen and a David Lloyd junior team, one-to-one coaching, social tennis and match-play, box leagues, ladders, tournaments and LTA events, and padel welcome sessions. Courts and classes are booked in the David Lloyd Clubs app. Racquets are included on the Platinum tier only.
David Lloyd Emersons Green Membership Costs
David Lloyd does not publish club-by-club prices online, which is why “how much is David Lloyd Emersons Green” never gets a straight answer from the club’s website. What you pay depends on:
- Membership tier: Club (off-peak, gym and pool), Club Plus (anytime, no racquets, spa or Blaze) or Platinum (everything, including the spa, racquets, Blaze and selected other clubs). When people ask what “plans” the club has, this is the choice.
- Individual, joint or family membership, with family membership covering children and giving access to DL Kids, the crèche and children’s lessons at extra cost; single membership is the individual price for the tier you choose.
- Contract: 12-month standard or 3-month flexible.
- Joining fees and promotions, which vary through the year.
- Extras, such as the crèche, swimming lessons, tennis and padel coaching, spa treatments and personal training, which cost more.
For context only: when the club opened in November 2019, Bristol24/7 reported an entry-level membership at £66 a month and Platinum at £129 a month. Prices have risen across the group since, so treat those as a floor, not a quote. The way to get an exact price is to book a tour, which is also the best time to ask about joining-fee offers. Compare with our David Lloyd membership cost guide and the other local clubs in David Lloyd Bristol, plus David Lloyd Swindon and David Lloyd Cheltenham up the M4 and M5.
Day Passes, Trials and Registering Interest
David Lloyd clubs do not usually sell walk-in day passes. The usual ways to try the club before joining are a guest visit with a member (Platinum memberships include a monthly guest pass), a trial or promotional pass when the club is running one, or a free tour, which is also how you register interest and get a written price. Ask the club directly, as offers change.
Opening Times, Classes and Swimming Timetable
At opening, Bristol24/7 reported hours of 6am to 10.30pm on weekdays and 6.30am to 10pm at weekends, but the club’s current hours, the class timetable and pool times are published in the David Lloyd app and on the club’s page, and they change for school holidays, Christmas, New Year, Easter and bank holidays. Check there before travelling, particularly for lane swimming, family swim sessions, Blaze and indoor cycling, which book up. The Clubroom menu is also in the app and changes seasonally.
Kids, Crèche, Clubroom and Business Hub
Emersons Green was built as a family club. There is a crèche for younger children, DL Kids fitness and arts-and-crafts classes, two children’s playrooms, indoor soft play and outdoor play frames, children’s swimming lessons in the learner pool and junior tennis from age three. The Clubroom café-bar has a family zone at one end and an adults-only lounge away from it, and the business hub has standing desks and charging points for members who want to work from the club. Jobs at the club are advertised on David Lloyd’s careers site rather than through reception.
Active Members: What Happens If You Get Injured?
People who play tennis and padel, swim and train regularly are also the people most likely to need physiotherapy, a scan or a specialist at some point: an elbow from serving, a twisted knee on the padel court, a shoulder that will not lift, or a back that stops cooperating. On the NHS, that often means waiting:
- Trauma and orthopaedics, which covers knee, shoulder and sports injuries, has England’s biggest waiting list: 829,590 open pathways in June 2026, with only 60.9% seen within 18 weeks, according to NHS England. See NHS waiting times for operations and NHS waits for rotator cuff surgery.
- Knee problems such as meniscus and ligament tears usually mean physiotherapy, an MRI and a consultant before any surgery. See private knee MRI, meniscus surgery and ACL reconstruction; for racquet injuries, tennis elbow and rotator cuff repair.
Private health insurance can cover physiotherapy, scans, specialist appointments and surgery for new injuries and conditions after you join, usually within days or weeks. Injuries or conditions you already have are usually excluded. See does health insurance cover sports injuries?, does health insurance cover physio?, private physiotherapy, physiotherapy costs and pre-existing conditions. The club does not list a physiotherapy clinic on site; locally, Spire Bristol and Nuffield Health Bristol can usually see you within days, and private MRI in Bristol and private ultrasound in Bristol cover scans.
Gym Discounts and Health Insurance
David Lloyd does not sell health insurance itself, and it is not a Vitality partner gym: it left Vitality’s list on 1 January 2022, and Vitality’s discounted clubs are now Virgin Active, Nuffield Health and PureGym. Aviva’s gym discount scheme, up to 25% for eligible policyholders, has included David Lloyd, and which clubs are included changes, so check with the insurer before joining. Our gym and health insurance rewards guide, health insurance with gym membership and Vitality gym discount guide explain what is currently on offer.
