Revolut Health & Medical Insurance UK (2026): What You Actually Get

The short answer: Revolut does not offer UK private health insurance — on any plan, at any price. What its paid tiers do include is travel insurance with emergency medical cover abroad, and the difference matters. Here’s exactly what each Revolut plan covers, who underwrites it, and where genuine UK health cover actually comes from.

Quick Answer

Revolut does not offer private health insurance in the UK. When Revolut talks about “medical insurance”, it means the emergency medical cover inside its travel insurance — accidents and sudden illness while abroad, included on Premium, Metal and Ultra plans for trips of roughly 30 days (90 on Ultra). Nothing on any Revolut tier funds UK private GPs, scans, specialists or hospital treatment.

For actual UK cover, health insurance is bought separately from dedicated insurers — the comparison route below shows what that costs for your age and circumstances.

Does Revolut Offer Health Insurance in the UK?

No. Revolut’s insurance offering in the UK is built around travel insurance (with emergency medical cover abroad), plus purchase, event and device protections on certain tiers. It does not sell, arrange or underwrite private medical insurance — the product that funds private diagnosis and treatment in the UK. There is no Revolut hospital list, no consultant network, no outpatient cover and no claims pathway for UK treatment, because the product doesn’t exist.

The confusion is understandable: Revolut’s own plan pages mention “medical insurance”, and for many people that phrase means health insurance. In Revolut’s case it means something narrower — which the next two sections unpack.

What Each Revolut Plan Actually Includes

PlanTravel insuranceEmergency medical abroadUK private medical insurance
Standard (free)NoNoNo
PlusNo — purchase and event protections onlyNoNo
PremiumYes — trips typically up to ~30 daysYes, while abroadNo
MetalYes — trips typically up to ~30 days, winter sports optionsYes, while abroadNo
UltraYes — extended trips (up to ~90 days) and higher limitsYes, while abroadNo

Plan inclusions, trip limits and benefit caps change as Revolut updates its tiers — the in-app policy documents for your own plan are the definitive version. But the last column is the constant: it has never included UK private medical cover on any tier.

Travel Medical Cover vs Private Medical Insurance

These two products share the word “medical” and almost nothing else:

One honesty note that applies to the real thing: UK private medical insurance covers new conditions that arise after joining — pre-existing conditions and routine screening are never covered, whichever insurer is chosen.

Who Underwrites Revolut’s Insurance?

A question that generates a surprising amount of search traffic — because the answer has changed over time, and older reviews reflect older arrangements:

  • Current UK policies: Revolut’s UK travel insurance policy wordings name Chubb as the underwriter.
  • Earlier UK policies: previous generations of Revolut’s UK travel cover were underwritten by White Horse Insurance Ireland DAC — which is why “White Horse Insurance” appears throughout older Revolut insurance reviews and forum threads.

If you hold a Revolut plan, the underwriter named in your own in-app policy documents is the one that applies to you. Either way, the underwriter question only concerns the travel product — there is no underwriter for Revolut UK health insurance, because there is no such policy.

What Revolut Can’t Do for UK Healthcare

The gap in plain terms

However high the tier, a Revolut plan cannot: fund a private GP or specialist appointment in the UK · pay for an MRI, CT or blood panel privately · cover private surgery or a hospital stay · provide a cancer care pathway · shortcut an NHS waiting list. Those all belong to private medical insurance, which is a separate product from a separate industry — how it is bought is covered step by step in our guide to getting private medical insurance in the UK.

The Real Alternatives: UK Health Insurers

For genuine cover — diagnostics, specialists, surgery and hospital stays for new conditions — these are the main UK providers, each reviewed independently on this site:

ProviderKnown forOur review
BupaThe largest UK network, digital GP, strong cancer pathwaysWhat Bupa covers
AXA HealthGuided care options, fast-track appointments, strong diagnosticsAXA costs & benefits
AvivaFlexible configuration, family options, Expert Select pathwayAviva review
VitalityActivity-linked rewards that can offset the net costIs Vitality worth it?
WPATransparent options, consultant choice, strong for small businessWPA review

Costs depend on age, postcode and how the policy is configured — excess, outpatient limit, hospital list and care pathway all move the price, and a lean setup brings it down materially. The full field, including the smaller specialists, is compared in our honest reviews of the main UK insurers.

Could Revolut Add Health Cover?

Revolut keeps expanding its financial ecosystem, and it has offered life insurance products in some European markets — so an insurance partnership touching health is not unimaginable. But UK private medical insurance is a regulated, clinically networked product a long way from Revolut’s core business, and nothing announced points to it. Anyone waiting for a banking app to solve UK health cover is, realistically, just waiting.

FAQs: Revolut Health Insurance UK (2026)

Does Revolut offer private health insurance in the UK?

No. Revolut does not offer UK private medical insurance on any plan. Its paid tiers include travel insurance with emergency medical cover abroad, plus purchase and device protections — but nothing that funds private GP appointments, diagnostics, specialists or hospital treatment in the UK. For that, a dedicated UK health insurer is needed.

What is Revolut medical insurance, then?

When Revolut mentions medical insurance it means the emergency medical cover inside its travel insurance — treatment for accidents and sudden illness while abroad, on Premium, Metal and Ultra plans. It is short-trip cover (typically up to 30 days per trip, or 90 on Ultra) and it does not cover any planned or private treatment in the UK.

Who underwrites Revolut’s insurance?

It has changed over time, which causes confusion in reviews. Current UK policy wordings name Chubb as the underwriter of Revolut’s travel insurance, while earlier UK policies were underwritten by White Horse Insurance Ireland DAC — which is why that name appears in many older Revolut insurance reviews. The underwriter shown in your own in-app policy documents is the one that applies to you.

Does Revolut Premium, Metal or Ultra include health insurance?

They include travel insurance, not health insurance. Premium and Metal cover trips of up to around 30 days with emergency medical abroad; Ultra extends trip length and limits. Standard and Plus do not include travel medical cover at all. None of the tiers, at any price, includes UK private medical insurance.

Can I get private health cover through a banking app?

Not as a built-in feature — no mainstream UK banking app currently bundles genuine private medical insurance. Health insurance is bought separately from dedicated insurers such as Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA and The Exeter, and comparing configurations across them is how the price is brought down.

Does Revolut offer life insurance in the UK?

Revolut has offered life insurance products in some European markets, but life cover and health cover are different products doing different jobs either way — life insurance pays out on death, while health insurance funds diagnosis and treatment. For UK life cover, dedicated providers remain the route.
