Quick Answer

David Lloyd Farnham (Monkton Lane, Farnham, GU9 9ND) opened on 7 December 2011 as a £15 million, 6,000 square metre club. It has a 25m heated indoor pool and a children’s pool, a heated outdoor pool in the Spa Garden, a spa with saunas, steam rooms, tepidarium beds, plunge pools and a hydro pool, six outdoor tennis courts, three padel courts, badminton, squash and pickleball, a large gym with a Battlebox outdoor zone, Blaze and studio classes, a Clubroom, a crèche, an on-site physiotherapy clinic and free parking.

Membership prices are not published online: they depend on your tier (the Spa Garden and outdoor pool are Platinum), off-peak or anytime access, and individual, joint or family membership, so booking a tour is the way to get an exact price. For how David Lloyd pricing works across the UK, see our David Lloyd membership cost guide.

Facilities are as listed by David Lloyd in October 2026. When the club opened it had eight outdoor tennis courts; it now lists six, with three padel courts added, so if padel in Farnham is the draw, this is one of the few clubs in the area with dedicated courts. Some areas, such as the Spa Garden, depend on your membership tier.

The Spa, Spa Garden and Outdoor Pool

The spa is the reason many people search for this club. It opened in 2011 as the Amida Spa, more than 1,000 square metres with six treatment rooms, four relaxation rooms and a plunge pool, and it is now branded as the club’s Spa Retreat and Spa Garden. Inside: saunas, aromatherapy steam rooms, tepidarium beds, plunge pools and a hydro pool. Outside, the Spa Garden has the heated outdoor pool, which is reserved for Platinum members. Spa days, massages and treatments are booked separately through the club and prices are not published online, so ask for the current spa menu when you visit.

David Lloyd Farnham Membership Costs

David Lloyd does not publish club-by-club prices online. What you pay depends on:

  • Membership tier, which decides which facilities you can use; the Spa Garden and outdoor pool are Platinum.
  • Off-peak or anytime access.
  • Individual, joint or family membership.
  • Joining fees and promotions, which vary. The club has advertised a three-month membership option.
  • Extras, such as the crèche, children’s swimming lessons, tennis and padel coaching, spa treatments and personal training, which cost more.

The way to get an exact price is to book a tour, which is also the best time to ask about joining-fee offers. Compare with our David Lloyd membership cost guide and the nearest clubs, David Lloyd Woking and David Lloyd Reading.

Day Passes, Guest Passes and Trials

David Lloyd clubs do not usually sell walk-in day passes. The usual ways to try the club before joining are a guest visit with a member (Platinum memberships typically include guest passes), a trial or promotional pass when the club is running one, or a free tour. Ask the club directly, as offers change.

Opening Times, Classes and Swimming Timetable

Opening hours, the class timetable and pool times are published in the David Lloyd app and on the club’s page, and they change for school holidays, Christmas, Easter and bank holidays. Check there before travelling, particularly for lane swimming, family swim sessions and Blaze, which books up.

Active Members: What Happens If You Get Injured?

People who play tennis and padel, swim and train regularly are also the people most likely to need physiotherapy, a scan or a specialist at some point: an elbow from padel, a twisted knee on court, or a back that stops cooperating. The club’s own physio clinic can treat you, but if you need a scan or a consultant, the NHS often means waiting:

Private health insurance can cover physiotherapy, scans, specialist appointments and surgery for new injuries and conditions after you join, usually within days or weeks. Injuries or conditions you already have are usually excluded. See does health insurance cover physio?, private physiotherapy and pre-existing conditions.

Gym Discounts and Health Insurance

David Lloyd does not sell health insurance itself, and it is not a Vitality partner gym: it left Vitality’s list on 1 January 2022, and Vitality’s discounted clubs are now Virgin Active, Nuffield Health and PureGym. Aviva’s gym discount scheme, up to 25% for eligible policyholders, has included David Lloyd, and which clubs are included changes, so check with the insurer before joining. Our gym and health insurance rewards guide, health insurance with gym membership and Vitality gym discount guide explain what is currently on offer.

How much is David Lloyd Farnham membership?

David Lloyd does not publish club prices online. The monthly cost depends on the membership tier (the Spa Garden and its outdoor pool are for Platinum members), whether you choose off-peak or anytime access, and whether it is an individual, joint or family membership; joining fees and promotions vary, and the club has advertised a three-month membership option. Extras such as the crèche, children’s swimming lessons, tennis and padel coaching, spa treatments and personal training cost more. The way to get an exact price is to book a tour.

Yes. The spa opened in 2011 as the Amida Spa and is now the club’s Spa Retreat and Spa Garden, with saunas, steam rooms, tepidarium beds, plunge pools and a hydro pool, plus treatment rooms. The Spa Garden includes a heated outdoor pool and is for Platinum members. Spa days and treatments are booked separately through the club, and prices are not published online.

Does David Lloyd Farnham offer a Vitality or health insurance discount?

Not through Vitality: David Lloyd stopped being a Vitality partner gym on 1 January 2022, and Vitality’s discounted gyms are now Virgin Active, Nuffield Health and PureGym. Aviva’s gym discount scheme, up to 25% for eligible policyholders, has included David Lloyd, and other insurers run their own perks, so check the current list with the insurer. For active members, the most useful part of a health insurance policy is usually physiotherapy, quick scans and specialist appointments after a new injury. Health insurance covers new conditions that start after you join, not ones you already have.
